Julia recalls her recent visit to Uganda

I recently returned from a very humbling and life-changing trip with Singing Gorilla Projects to Uganda.

Singing Gorilla Projects funds and manages community based projects in remote parts of Uganda that improve the welfare of communities and enrich the lives of individuals. The charity builds and manages health facilities, builds schools and sponsors children to continue their schooling, and funds water delivery programs with water tanks, water filters and water pumping projects.

I spent a week in the remote town of Nkuringo, overlooking the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (home to the endangered mountain gorillas) and the majestic hills and volcanos of south west Uganda.

We visited numerous schools, opening new classrooms, looking at various water projects and most importantly meeting the children. What struck me most was how warm and friendly everyone was, and how grateful the community was for the assistance they’re receiving in improving their lives and having the opportunity to educate their children. A sign I saw at one of the schools sums it up best “Education is the key to opportunity”.

An exclusive opportunity for you

Lekker will be working with Singing Gorilla Projects to provide a unique opportunity to combine an African safari and mountain gorilla encounter with a once-in-a-lifetime experience to visit the schools and community supported by the charity and get personally involved in the incredible work that Singing Gorilla Projects is doing.
